Oath negotiator

When a hero's oath lapses you can meet the ask, haggle to 85%, or let them walk. Haggling is nearly free on a happy youth prospect and a pure trap on a mercenary — because a refusal isn't a one-time miss, it's permanent. Set the hero up and see the real odds.

Coin-flip — mind the penalty

A refusal is permanent, not just a miss.

How to use it

  1. Pick the hero's origin — youth, veteran, or poached.
  2. Type their base weekly wage, then set the sliders to match your guild and the hero.
  3. Flip previously spurned on if you've haggled this hero before.
  4. Read the verdict banner and the accept % — then decide whether to meet the ask, haggle to the lower offer, or let them walk.

What each dial does

The renewal ask is driven by the hero's base wage, their origin, and your own renown — the bigger your guild, the more your stars cost to keep. In the tool:

  • Origin — sets how pricey the hero is and how likely they are to accept a haggle (see the table below).
  • Renown band — higher renown raises what your heroes ask, especially your 4★+ stars.
  • Ability stars — better heroes pay the full renown premium; weaker ones are shielded from most of it.
  • Morale — the one lever you fully control. A happy hero is far more likely to accept a haggle.
  • Previously spurned — if you've haggled them before, both the price and the refusal risk get worse.

Haggle odds

Each origin starts from a different base chance, then morale swings it up or down. There's a limit to how much low morale can hurt you, but no limit to how much high morale helps — so keeping a hero happy is the one lever that reliably lowers your wage bill.

The cost of a refusal

Lowball a hero and get refused, and three things happen at once — and the last two are permanent:

  • Their ask jumps ×1.15 for this renewal.
  • Morale drops −10 on the spot.
  • They're marked spurned — every future ask stays ×1.15 and every future haggle takes −25% odds. On a poached hero that's effectively "never haggle again".

The severance path (letting a hero walk) is priced separately and not shown here.
