Who carries it
Crucible-Raised is the human custom, one of ten kindred traits added in 2.1.9. Only humans roll it, and the sheet marks it “Humans only”.
Recruits draw two or three traits by weight: common 100, uncommon 45, rare 14, legendary 3. A custom has a fixed weight of 150 for its own people and 0 for everyone else, so about one human recruit in eighteen (roughly 5.5%) carries it. It is excluded from the founding term that gives every delver one shared trait.
+3 at every Gathering
Festival gatherings judge a champion in one of three disciplines, wit, valour or crowd, whatever the festival. A hero’s score is built from the discipline’s attributes, their record, rehearsal, convictions, the day’s performance roll and trait bonuses (the Crowd-Pleaser page lays out the whole formula).
Each trait bonus normally belongs to one discipline: Quick-Witted helps wit, Brave helps valour, Charismatic helps the crowd. Crucible-Raised is the only trait that adds +3 in all three. It never helps as much as a specialist (+4 or +5 in its own discipline), but it never goes to waste, whichever discipline you enter them in.
A champion competes against a field of twelve. First place pays 22 renown and 500 gold, second or third 12 renown and 250 gold, fourth to sixth 5 renown. A few points can move a champion up a band.
A touch harder in the Crucible
In Crucible fights, every Crucible-Raised delver on your side deals 3.6% more damage. It stacks with any vow bonus the hero carries for the Crucible. Cup ties and ordinary league fixtures get nothing.
The cost: lost Trials hurt twice
A hero who takes part in a lost Trial normally loses 3 morale. A Crucible-Raised hero loses 6, the same as a Sore Loser. Thick-Skinned cancels the loss entirely, even for a Crucible-Raised hero.
Six morale is not a lot by itself, but a hero who plays many Trials for a struggling guild will feel it over a season.
As a leader at a fork
A Crucible-Raised leader leans +1 toward the Lair with its named foe, taking it about two times in three. Sealed Doors and treasure rooms get no lean.
The human lean
Humans roll Ambitious, Broad Hand and Traditional more often (×2.5), and Old School and Old Soldier less often (×0.4). See the human page.
Verdict
If your guild enters festivals and plays for the Crucible, Crucible-Raised is a mild plus: a dependable festival champion and a small edge in the year’s biggest fights. If your Trials go badly, it is a small, steady drain on morale.
The trait has no combat coefficient; the Composure link on the sheet is descriptive.
